Roadmap to Your Camera
Q. What will I learn from this class?
A. Hopefully you will learn how to take great photographs. Our goal is to help you understand the basics of photography and the elements that you need to begin creating real images
Q. What camera do I need?
A. You will take away valuable information regardless of the particular camera you own, however, to get the most from the class you will need a camera that will allow you to take control. Automatic modes are ok but most of the material covered in this class is geared toward taking control of various camera functions such as shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. To get the most out of this class you will need a digital SLR or a good quality point and shoot compact.
Q Is every camera feature going to be covered?
A. No … just the ones we feel you need to know in order to take great photographs. It would be virtually impossible to cover everything in 2.5 hours but what we will teach you is how to harness general camera functions and photography principles to really benefit your photography.
Q. If I already own the camera manual, why do I need to take this class?
A. The manual does a pretty decent job of telling you how to use a particular feature but it doesn’t tell you how and when to apply that feature. If you want to improve on your photography you need to know the whys, whens, and hows to put all those great features to use. To that end, the manual should be seen as a good companion once you’ve completed “A Road Map to Your Camera.”
Final Thoughts…
My goal when putting this class together was to give you a resource for making truly wonderful photographs. Take time to learn the basics and put them to use. Photography, like most things, requires time to master and requires practice.
I have been a photographer for 30 years, and I am still perfecting my craft.
Remember it’s not the camera, but the person using it who makes wonderful images.
Have fun, learn from your mistakes, and I’m sure you will transition from someone who takes “snapshots” to capturing truly beautiful images.
